Alternative Yom Ha'atzmaut Protesters in Sderot

Israelis across the country gathered in Sderot on Friday for an "Alternative Independence Day" event to show their opposition to the government's wasteful spending on Israel's 60th anniversary. Hundreds of cars decked with Israeli flags and protest posters followed promoter Ilan Cohen in procession from the Yad Mordechai junction. Participants blasted the government for its abandonment, so they claimed, of Sderot residents to continued rocket attacks. All photos by Rafael Ben-Ari/Chameleons Eye.
