Jerusalem is a city sacred to humanity, the cradle of the three great monotheistic religions and the center of the universe. Jerusalem means- Yerushalayim-city of peace, shalem, is the biblical Hebrew meaning of š-l-m whole, complete in the idiomatic sense of at peace. In 1000 B.C King David who had defeated the Philistine, Moabite and Edomite tribes conquers Jerusalem and built alter to God of Israel on top of mount Moriah and place in it the Arch of Alliance, symbol of the union between God and his people. His son, King Solomon built on the site the first Temple and the Israeli Kingdom had a great peace for 40 years. But since the destruction of the first Temple invasions took place by almost every culture on earth. The Egyptians, Persian, Greeks, Romans, Turks, Crusaders and Moslems and may others all walk it soil. In the beginning of the return of the Jews last centaury from around the world Jerusalem was in the hands of the Turks and later by the British Empire. In May 1948 armies from six nearby nations : Libya, Syria, Iraq, Jordan Egypt and Saudi Arabia attack the newborn State of Israel and Jordan gets the old city to the east, with all of the Holy sites and a big wall divided the city. On June 5, 1967 the six day war took over and miraculously the State of Israel proclaimed the annexation of the entire old city and the wall was torn down. Finally the hand of the Jews could rest and cry on the Wailing Wall the outer wall of the ancient Temple after thousands of years and to fulfill the destiny of Zion.Today almost every person on earth is connected some how to Jerusalem. The 4000 years old city is a spiritual center for billions of believers from all walks of life and from all around the world. We are all in a quest to make this city a one whole again to the entire of humanity, please join me on a journey to Jerusalem.
