ISRAELI PRESIDENT KATSAV VISITS SDEROT

Israeli President Moshe Katsav with his wife in a meeting with Amir Peretz and Eli Moyal during a visit to Sderot on Monday 19 June 2006. Peretz said Monday that a sharpened military response to Palestinian rocket fire would lead to intensified bombardments of the southern city of Sderot. Sderot sealed off its entrances and exits for 24 hours starting Tuesday to protest the ongoing Palestinian rocket attacks. Amir Peretz, Eli Moyal and Moshe Katsav met in Peretz\'s Sderot home with hunger strikers protesting. Katsav asked them to stop their strike and give the military time to deal with the Kassam attacks. As Katsav toured the Kassam struck city of Sderot Monday afternoon, a Kassam rocket fired from northern Gaza landed in an open field some 500 meters for the Ivim Junction.
