MIDEAST ISRAEL ELI SINAI SETTLEMENT DISENGAGEMENTFormer settlers evacuated from Eli Sinai are eating lunch and reading the weekend news in their community living room tent at Yad Mordechai intersection, on Friday Jan 13, 2006. Five months (146 days) since they were evacuated from their Gaza homes this summer, the ex-Eli Sinai residents belong to the 25 percent of the former residents that are still living in tents, hotel rooms or dormitories. According to a new report released by the non-profit group Lema\'an Acheinu, more than 50% have yet to receive any compensation funds, and only 5.7% of the 2,100 people who lost their jobs have found new ones. The report paints a grim picture of the evacuees\' economic, emotional and family situations, including drug and alcohol use by teens and increase divorce rates.
